DUMORTIERITE

Chakra- Third Eye (6th);  Hardness-7; Element- Wind

Dumortierite is best known in its massive form, which makes an attractive violet and blue decorative stone when polished.  It is said that this stone was discovered over a hundred years ago by a French paleontologist name of Dumortier.  The African lore has long been told that Dumortierite is petrified water, as it was always found in the vicinity of water. The majority of the gemstones we see in the market today are from Brazil, and the US. The stone's blue color is caused by the presence of manganese, iron and zinc, the levels of these minerals creating the differential shades of color.

Dumortierite makes troublesome everyday tasks more bearable by inducing relaxation and a feeling of calm with harmony.

Dumortierite is said to promote a positive attitude in all life situations.  It provides us with courage and trust in personal times of hardship as well as helping us to gain control and understanding in our own lives.

Some like to use Dumortierite to ease panic and fear.  Apparently it is being used to help addicts cope with their addiction by recognizing the patterns and helping to erase the negativity at a core level.

It quickly reduces difficulties of scattered mind and disorganization. In addition, it encourages one to see and accept reality, and react to it in an intelligent manner in one's own behalf.

Healing

Said to relieve stomach trouble, vomiting and nausea, this is an excellent stone for water travel if you suffer from sea sickness.  After over exposure to the sun, it is also helpful in the treatment of skin irritation and headaches.

Dumortierite is said to be a helpful stone for healers as an aid in diagnosing health problems, as it can illuminate the base issues and true causes of an illness so the healer is better able to treat the initial causes.
